The main goal in Vex 4 is to guide your stickman character through a series of increasingly difficult platforming acts, avoiding deadly traps and reaching the finish portal.
Control your stickman's movements using either the WASD keys or the arrow keys. Use the W key or Up arrow to jump, and press it again while against a wall to perform a wall jump.
The S key or Down arrow allows you to slide under obstacles.
Progress through each act by navigating various obstacles like spikes, saws, and moving platforms. Reach the green 'act' blocks to set checkpoints and eventually find the finish portal at the end of each act to unlock the next challenge.
Mastering the timing of your jumps and slides is crucial. Many traps require precise execution to pass safely, and knowing when to speed up or slow down can make all the difference.
Observe patterns - Most moving traps have predictable patterns. Watch them for a few cycles before attempting to pass. Utilize wall jumps - Wall jumps are essential for reaching higher platforms and navigating tight vertical shafts. Practice chaining them together.
Learn to slide - Sliding with the S key or Down arrow is vital for getting under low-hanging obstacles and avoiding certain traps. Don't rush - Patience is often rewarded.
Sometimes waiting for the perfect opening is safer than trying to sprint through a dangerous section. Look for checkpoints - Activate the green 'act' blocks as soon as you see them; they save your progress and prevent you from restarting the entire level.
Practice the death run - If you're struggling with a section, sometimes a 'death run' (where you just try to get as far as possible without caring about dying) can help you learn the layout and timing.
