Your objective in Steps is to guide your character as far as possible along a winding, increasingly challenging path without falling off. Each successful step adds to your score, with the ultimate goal of setting a new high score.
To play Steps, simply use your mouse to left click anywhere on the screen, or tap if you're on a touch device. Each click or tap will make your character take one step forward. Timing is key to staying on the path.
The path becomes narrower, features more gaps, and introduces moving or disappearing platforms as you progress. Your character moves a set distance with each step, so judge your clicks carefully to stay on the path.
There are no power-ups or special abilities; success in Steps relies purely on your precise timing and ability to anticipate the path's layout.
Patience is Key - Don't rush your clicks. Wait for the perfect moment, especially on narrow sections or near gaps. Anticipate Ahead - Look at least two steps in front of your character to plan your timing for upcoming turns or obstacles.
Rhythm Matters - Try to find a consistent rhythm for your clicks, adjusting only when the path demands a slower or faster pace. Practice Gaps - Gaps require precise timing. Practice the distance needed for a safe step over small and large gaps.
Observe Patterns - Moving platforms or disappearing tiles often follow predictable patterns. Watch them for a cycle before committing to your move.
Focus on the Center - Always aim to keep your character centered on the path to give yourself maximum room for error on turns.
