The ultimate goal is to encircle an opponent completely, creating a prison from which they cannot escape.

Circle of Doom - The most effective strategy is to encircle a smaller player. Use your length to create a loop around them, gradually tightening it until they have no room to move and crash into you.
Play Defensively When Large - Once you're one of the biggest worms, you become a major target. Avoid the chaotic center of the map and stick to the edges, letting smaller, more aggressive players make mistakes and run into you.
Head-on Gamble - If you're about to collide head-on with a worm of similar size, try to boost just before impact. If you can force them to hit your body just behind your head, you'll win the exchange.
