Your sole mission in Nova Defender is to protect your central base from destruction. A health bar at the top of the screen indicates your base's integrity. Each alien that reaches your base will deplete its health.
The game is structured in waves, with each subsequent wave bringing more numerous and powerful enemies.
Between each wave, you get a short reprieve to spend the credits earned from defeating aliens. Your goal is to survive for as many waves as you can by building a formidable defense and strategically eliminating every threat before it can inflict damage.
You aren't defenseless against the alien horde. Your primary weapon is a powerful, manually-controlled cannon. As you progress, you can spend credits to upgrade its damage, fire rate, and other attributes.
You can also purchase and upgrade automated support turrets that provide constant covering fire, which is crucial for dealing with smaller, faster enemies.
Beyond standard weaponry, you have access to game-changing special abilities. These include devastating airstrikes that clear large sections of the screen and support drones that assist you in battle.
These abilities operate on a cooldown, requiring you to use them at the most opportune moments to turn the tide of a difficult wave.
You can play Nova Defender directly in your web browser with no downloads or installations required. Because it's an HTML5 game, it runs on most modern devices and is often accessible on school or work networks where other games might be blocked.
Just load the page and get straight into the action of defending your base for free.
Your goal is to defend your base from incoming waves of alien attackers. You lose the game if your base's health reaches zero.
Use your mouse to aim your main cannon. Left click to fire your weapon. You can also use the number keys (1, 2, 3) to activate your special abilities like airstrikes and support units once they are purchased and off cooldown.
After successfully defending a wave, you will earn money. Use this money in the upgrade screen between rounds to repair your base, improve your main cannon's power and fire rate, or purchase and upgrade automated support turrets.
Prioritize Threats - Focus your fire on the biggest aliens first, as they typically deal the most damage if they reach your base. Upgrade the Main Cannon - In the early game, concentrate your funds on upgrading the main cannon's damage.
A strong primary weapon is more effective than several weak support turrets. Save Your Specials - Don't waste your airstrike on a few weak enemies. Save it for later waves when the screen is full and your primary weapons are overwhelmed.
Strategic Repairs - Only repair your base when you have leftover cash after buying necessary upgrades. A strong offense is the best defense and will save you more health in the long run.
Mind the Cooldowns - Pay attention to the cooldown timers for your special abilities. Knowing when they'll be ready again helps you plan your defense for the toughest parts of a wave.
