Rummikub
Rummikub is a classic multiplayer tile-based board game that combines elements of strategy and luck, similar to card games like Rummy or tile games like Mahjong.
This browser version brings the beloved tabletop experience to your screen, challenging you to be the first player to clear your rack by arranging numbered tiles into valid sets called 'runs' and 'groups'.
How Do You Play Rummikub?
The game starts with each player receiving 14 tiles, each with a number from 1 to 13 in one of four colors. The objective is to play all your tiles by forming sets on the table.
A 'group' is a set of three or four tiles of the same number in different colors, while a 'run' is three or more consecutive numbers of the same color.
Your very first play, known as the 'initial meld', must consist of sets that total at least 30 points. After you've made your initial meld, on subsequent turns you can play tiles by adding to existing sets or creating new ones without a point minimum.
If you can't make a play, you must draw a tile from the pool.
Manipulating Melds for Victory
A key strategy in Rummikub is rearranging the tiles already on the board. As long as all sets on the board remain valid at the end of your turn, you can manipulate them freely.
For example, you can split a long run to insert one of your tiles or take a fourth tile from a group to help create an entirely new set. Mastering this skill is crucial for emptying your rack before your opponents do.
What Does the Joker Tile Do?
The Joker is a powerful wild tile that can be used as a substitute for any number and color to complete a set. Playing a Joker can help you make your initial meld or win the game.
If a Joker is on the board in a set, you can take it for your own rack by replacing it with the actual tile it represents from your hand. This can be a game-changing move, so use your Jokers wisely.

Save it for a critical move that lets you play multiple tiles or win the game outright. Look for Manipulations - Before drawing a tile, always scan the entire board for ways to rearrange existing sets.
This is the most common way to play a difficult tile. Keep Your Rack Organized - Arrange the tiles on your rack by color and number. This helps you quickly see potential runs and groups you can form.
Open Up Runs - When creating a run, try to play sets from the middle numbers (like 5, 6, 7) instead of the ends (like 1, 2, 3). Middle runs have more potential to be added to by you or others.
