How Do You Play Klondike?
The game begins with 28 cards dealt into seven columns on the tableau, with the top card of each column face-up. The remaining cards form the stock pile.
Your primary task is to move cards around the tableau, stacking them in descending order (King, Queen, Jack, 10, etc.) and alternating colors (a red 8 on a black 9).
As you move cards, you'll reveal the face-down cards beneath them, opening up new possibilities.
The ultimate goal is to move every card to the four empty foundation slots at the top, starting each pile with an Ace and building up to the King by suit.
Choosing Your Challenge: Draw 1 vs. Draw 3
Klondike Solitaire offers two main difficulty settings that change how you interact with the stock pile. In 'Draw 1' mode, you flip over one card at a time from the stock, making every card available as you go.
This is a more forgiving and accessible version, ideal for beginners.
'Draw 3' mode presents a greater challenge. When you click the stock, three cards are flipped to the waste pile, but only the top card is playable.
This requires more foresight and strategic planning, as you may need to play cards you don't want just to access the one buried beneath it.

Game Tips
Expose Hidden Cards - Always prioritize a move that will turn over a face-down card in the tableau. More visible cards mean more options. Use Empty Columns - Creating an empty column is powerful.
Plan ahead to fill it with a King that will help you unlock other necessary cards. Don't Rush the Foundations - Moving cards to the foundation is final.
Avoid moving low cards (like Aces and 2s) too early, as they might be needed to hold other cards in the tableau. Scan the Tableau First - Before drawing from the stock, always do a full scan of the tableau for any available moves.
You might miss an opportunity. Think Before You Move - If you have multiple moves available, consider which one will be most beneficial. Ask yourself which move reveals a new card or helps create a more organized sequence.
