How Do You Play Boat Battles?

Your objective in Boat Battles is to locate and sink all five of your opponent's ships before they sink your entire fleet. The game is a battle of strategic guessing and careful placement.
All actions are controlled with the mouse. To place your ships, use a left click to select a ship and drag it onto your grid. Click on a placed ship to rotate it between horizontal and vertical positions.
During combat, left click on a square in the opponent's grid to fire a shot at that coordinate.
First, you must arrange your fleet on your side of the board. Once the game starts, you and your opponent take turns firing one shot at a time.
A red marker signifies a hit on an enemy ship, while a white marker means you missed and hit the water. Use the information from your hits and misses to sink the enemy fleet and claim victory.
Game Tips
Spread Your Fleet - Avoid placing all your ships in one corner or close together. Spreading them out forces your opponent to search the entire grid.
Hunt Systematically - Instead of firing randomly, use a pattern like a checkerboard (firing on all black squares, then all red) to ensure you don't miss any areas.
Focus Fire After a Hit - Once you score a hit, immediately fire on the adjacent squares (up, down, left, right) to find the rest of the ship and sink it quickly.
Don't Hug the Edges - A common beginner mistake is to place ships right against the borders of the grid. This makes them easier to find, so try placing them at least one square away from the edge.
Mind the Ship Sizes - Keep track of which enemy ships are left. If you know the 2-square Destroyer is sunk, you can ignore single empty spaces between your misses when hunting for larger ships.
