What is the Wheel Spinner?
The Sonsaur Wheel Spinner is a free online tool that lets you create a custom wheel with your own entries, spin it, and get a random result. It uses cryptographically secure randomness to ensure every spin is fair. You can add unlimited entries, choose from 8 color palettes, and use 5 different spin modes.
What spin modes are available?
We offer 5 modes: Normal (spin and get a result, entries stay), Elimination (winner is removed each spin until one remains), Accumulation (tracks how many times each entry wins), Tournament (head-to-head bracket elimination with visual progression), and Mystery (all labels hidden as "?" with a dramatic reveal of the winner).
Is the wheel spinner truly random?
Yes. We use the Web Crypto API (crypto.getRandomValues) to generate cryptographically secure random numbers. This is the same technology used in banking and security systems. The wheel animation is purely visual - the result is determined by cryptographic randomness before the wheel starts spinning.
Can I customize the wheel entries?
Absolutely. You can add entries one at a time, bulk-import by pasting a list (one entry per line), or load from preset wheels (Yes/No, Numbers 1-10, Days of the Week, Rock Paper Scissors, Dinner Options, Rainbow Colors). You can also remove, shuffle, or clear entries at any time.
How does the Tournament mode work?
Tournament mode randomly pairs your entries into a bracket. Each round, two entries face off on the wheel - the winner advances to the next round, the loser is eliminated. This continues through multiple rounds until only one champion remains. If there is an odd number of entries, one gets a bye to the next round.
What is Mystery mode?
Mystery mode adds suspense to your spins by hiding all wheel labels behind question marks. When the wheel stops, only the winning entry is revealed with a dramatic animation. The other entries stay hidden. This is great for surprise reveals, gift selections, and building anticipation.
Does the wheel work on mobile devices?
Yes. The wheel spinner is fully responsive and works on phones, tablets, and desktops. It supports touch interactions and provides haptic feedback (vibration) on supported devices when the wheel stops.
Is my data saved?
Your entries, statistics, spin history, and color palette preferences are saved locally in your browser using localStorage. Nothing is sent to our servers. Your data persists between sessions and you can clear it at any time.
