5Dice Duel is a competitive multiplayer online board game that brings the classic tension of Yahtzee to your browser. In this HTML5 dice game, you roll five dice up to three times per turn, strategically holding and re-rolling to achieve the best possible combinations. The goal is to outscore a live opponent by filling a 13-category scorecard with everything from a full house to the coveted 5Dice.
Your scorecard is split into two main parts- the upper and lower sections. The upper section challenges you to score as many of each number (Aces through Sixes) as you can. If your total score in this section reaches 63 or more, you get a sweet 35-point bonus, which can often decide the game.
The lower section is where the classic poker-style combinations come into play. You'll be aiming for three-of-a-kind, four-of-a-kind, a full house (three of one number, two of another), a small straight (four sequential dice), a large straight (five sequential dice), and the mighty 5Dice (five of the same number). There's also a 'Chance' category to catch any rolls that don't fit elsewhere.
Each turn gives you up to three rolls, and the real strategy lies in knowing what to do with them. Your first roll sets the stage. Do you have a good pair or three-of-a-kind to build on? Or maybe the beginnings of a straight? You use your mouse to click and hold the dice you want to keep before rolling the rest.
Sometimes you have to make a tough choice. Chasing a rare 5Dice might mean giving up a guaranteed 20 points in another category. Watching what your opponent scores can also influence your decisions, forcing you to take bigger risks if you fall behind. After your final roll, you must choose an open category to place your score, even if it's a zero.
You can play 5Dice Duel for free directly in your web browser. There are no downloads or installations required, making it easy to start a match from any computer with an internet connection. Since it runs on HTML5, it works smoothly on school Chromebooks and workplace networks, letting you get a quick game in whenever you have a break.
The objective in 5Dice Duel is to achieve a higher total score than your opponent by the end of 13 rounds. You score points by rolling five dice and assigning the results to specific combination categories on your scorecard. Use your mouse to control the game. Click the 'Roll' button to roll the dice. To keep specific dice for your next roll, simply left click on them. They will be held while the others are re-rolled. Click a category on the scorecard to enter your score for that turn. Each turn consists of up to three rolls. After your first roll, you can hold any number of dice and roll the remaining ones. You can do this a second time for a third and final roll. After you finish rolling, you must choose one of the 13 empty categories to fill with your score. Once a category is used, it cannot be changed or used again.
Aim for the Bonus - Getting a total of 63 points in the upper section (Aces to Sixes) awards a 35-point bonus. Prioritize getting at least three of each number early on. Don't Chase 5Dice - A 5Dice is worth a lot, but it's rare. Don't sacrifice a guaranteed good score in another category just to chase it. Use Your 'Chance' - The Chance category is your safety net. Use it for a bad roll where the dice don't fit anywhere else. Try to get a high total (over 20) for it. Know When to Sacrifice - Sometimes you'll have to put a zero in a category. It's better to sacrifice a low-value spot like 'Aces' than to waste a high-potential category like 'Large Straight' on a poor roll. Watch Your Opponent - Since it's a duel, your opponent's score matters. If they are far ahead, you might need to take bigger risks. If you have the lead, play more conservatively to protect it.
