Pounce.sh is a minimalist two-player, turn-based stealth game played directly in your browser. This strategic IO title pits you against a single opponent in a tense cat-and-mouse duel across a simple grid.
Using just your mouse, you must anticipate your rival's moves, use the environment for cover, and choose the perfect moment to strike. It’s a game of pure strategy and psychological warfare, similar to a high-stakes chess match but with simultaneous turns and hidden information.
The core of Pounce.sh is its unique simultaneous turn system. Each round, both you and your opponent secretly plan your next move. You can either perform a short, silent 'walk' or a long-range, noisy 'pounce'.
Once both players have locked in their choices, the actions are executed at the same time. This creates a fascinating mind-game where you must predict your opponent's action to either land a decisive blow or narrowly escape their attack.
Your two actions serve very different purposes. Walking is your primary method for repositioning quietly. It's a short-distance move that doesn't reveal your location, making it ideal for sneaking up on your opponent or retreating to a safer position.
Pouncing, on the other hand, is your attack. It covers a much longer distance and is the only way to eliminate your opponent.
However, it comes with a major risk: pouncing creates a visible sound-wave that instantly reveals your location to the other player, whether you hit them or not. Mastering when to stay silent and when to risk it all is the key to victory in Pounce.sh.
In Pounce.sh, information is everything. Both players are invisible to each other by default. You can only spot your opponent if they enter your direct line of sight, which is easily blocked by the walls scattered across each map.
This makes using corners and obstacles for cover essential. The only other way to find your opponent is by hearing their pounce.
A successful player uses the map layout to their advantage, controlling sightlines and using sound as both a weapon and a source of intelligence.
You can play Pounce.sh for free directly in your web browser. There's nothing to download or install, so you can jump right into a match.
Because it's a lightweight HTML5 game, it works on most modern devices and internet connections, including school or work networks that might block other gaming sites.
The goal in Pounce.sh is to outmaneuver and eliminate your opponent in a one-on-one duel. You must be the first to successfully land a 'pounce' on the other player to win the round.
The first player to win the required number of rounds wins the match.
Controls are simple and based entirely on the mouse. To plan your move, use your mouse to aim a line from your character. The shorter, white line indicates a silent walk, while the longer, red line is for a pounce.
Left click to lock in your choice for the turn.
Each game is turn-based, but both players make their moves simultaneously. After you and your opponent have chosen your actions, they are both revealed at the same time. This means you must think one step ahead and predict what your opponent is going to do.
The key mechanics are sound and sight. You are invisible unless you are in your opponent's direct line of sight. Pouncing makes a loud sound, which reveals your location on the map to your opponent, so use it wisely.
Stay Silent - Prioritize walking over pouncing unless you're sure you have a winning shot. Giving away your position is a huge disadvantage. Create Decoys - Intentionally pounce into a wall far away from your actual location.
This creates a false sound cue that might trick your opponent into moving toward the wrong area. Predict, Don't React - Since turns are simultaneous, you need to predict where your opponent will be, not where they currently are.
Try to corner them or cut off their escape routes. Use the Walls - Always use walls to block line of sight. Peeking around corners is much safer than moving across open spaces.
Control the Center - Dominating the middle of the map gives you more movement options and a better view of potential pathways, restricting your opponent's choices. Be Patient - Rushing in is a quick way to lose.
Sometimes the best move is a small, silent step to a better position while you wait for your opponent to make a mistake.
