Maya is a fast-paced, skill-based puzzle game where you shoot colored balls into a moving chain.
Inspired by classics like Zuma, your goal in this browser-based arcade title is to create matches of three or more same-colored balls to clear the line before it reaches the end.
Using your mouse to aim and click, you'll need quick reflexes and a sharp eye to conquer its challenging levels.
The core gameplay of Maya revolves around a central shooter that you control. A long chain of multi-colored balls snakes its way along a predetermined path on the screen, slowly advancing toward a final destination.
Your job is to fire the balls from your shooter into the chain.
When your fired ball makes contact and creates a group of three or more of the same color, that group is eliminated from the chain. This shortens the line and pushes you closer to victory.
You can see the color of the next ball you're about to receive, which allows for some light strategy in planning your shots.
Simply making matches isn't enough to achieve high scores. The key to mastering Maya is creating combos. When you clear a group of balls from the middle of the chain, you create a gap.
If the balls at the two new ends of the chain are the same color, they will attract each other, potentially creating another match automatically. This chain reaction earns you significant bonus points.
Occasionally, special power-up balls will appear in the chain. Hitting these with any color ball will trigger helpful effects, such as reversing the chain's direction for a few seconds, slowing it down, or creating a large explosion that clears a wide area.
You can play Maya completely free directly in your web browser. There's no need to download any files or install any software.
Because it's an HTML5 game, it runs on most modern devices and isn't blocked by school or work networks, making it easy to play a quick round whenever you have a moment.
The main goal in Maya is to prevent the moving chain of colored balls from reaching the skull at the end of the path. To do this, you must clear all the balls from the screen by making matches.
Use your mouse to aim the central shooter. The cursor indicates where your ball will go. Left click to fire the currently loaded ball into the chain. Your shooter will display both the current ball and the color of the next one in the queue.
When you successfully create a group of three or more identical balls, they will be removed from the chain. As you clear levels, the tracks become more complex, and the balls move faster.
Your objective is to clear the entire chain to advance to the next stage.
Look Ahead - Always check the color of the next ball in your queue to plan your subsequent shot. Create Gaps - Prioritize matches in the middle of the chain. This can cause the chain to briefly roll back, giving you more time.
Aim for Combos - After creating a gap, look to see if the two new ends of the chain are the same color. If they are, they will connect for a combo bonus. Target Power-Ups - Special balls offer huge advantages.
Make it a priority to hit them as soon as they appear on the screen.
Shoot into Openings - If you don't have a good match, fire the ball into an open area or against a wall rather than adding it to the chain in a bad spot.
