How Do You Play Mahjong Solitaire?
The rules are simple to learn but offer deep strategic possibilities. Your goal is to remove all tiles from the layout by matching them in pairs. However, you can only select a tile if it is "open" or "free".
An open tile must have no other tiles on top of it and must be clear on either its left or right side, allowing it to be slid out.
You click on one open tile and then on its identical match to remove them both from play. The game continues until you either clear the entire board or run out of available moves.
Keep an eye out for special tiles like Seasons and Flowers-these can be matched with any other tile from their respective group, even if the images don't match perfectly.
Strategies for a Higher Score
While clearing the board is the main objective, scoring high requires speed and foresight. This version of Mahjong features a combo system. When you match pairs in quick succession, you build a score multiplier that significantly boosts your points.
Letting the combo timer run out will reset your multiplier, so try to spot your next few moves in advance.
A good strategy is to focus on tiles that block the most other pieces. Prioritize removing tiles from tall stacks and long horizontal rows to open up the board and reveal more potential matches.
If you see three identical, open tiles, think carefully about which two to pair up to maximize your future options.

Prioritize Tall Stacks - Focus on removing tiles from the highest stacks first to unlock the pieces underneath them. Clear the Long Rows - Tiles in long horizontal rows often block many other pieces. Clearing them early opens up the board.
Scan for Triples - If you see three identical, open tiles, remove the pair that will free up the most useful new tiles. Plan Ahead - Before making a match, try to see what tiles it will unlock. This helps avoid getting stuck later on.
Use Hints Sparingly - Hints are helpful when you're truly stuck, but try to find pairs on your own first to train your observation skills. Watch the Combo Meter - Make matches quickly to keep your score multiplier going.
