Magic Lines is a strategic puzzle game where you arrange colored balls on a 9x9 grid. The objective is to form horizontal, vertical, or diagonal lines of five or more balls of the same color to clear them and score points.
Controlled entirely with a mouse, this HTML5 browser game challenges you to think ahead to prevent the board from filling up, similar to the classic game Color Lines.
Scoring in Magic Lines is straightforward but rewards strategic planning. You earn points for every ball you clear from the board. A minimum line of five same-colored balls will net you five points.
However, creating longer lines is the key to a higher score. For instance, a line of six balls gives you six points, seven balls earn seven points, and so on.
There's no complex multiplier- just a direct reward for clearing more space in a single, well-planned move. Aim for those longer chains to maximize your score before the board gets too crowded.
The game takes place on a grid with 81 squares. After every move you make that does not complete a line, the game adds three new balls to random empty squares on the board. This is the central challenge you'll need to manage.
Thankfully, Magic Lines gives you a small advantage. You can always see the colors of the next three balls that are scheduled to appear, displayed in a preview area.
Use this information to inform your current move, placing balls in spots that won't be immediately blocked by the incoming pieces.
Success in Magic Lines relies on keeping your options open. Try to keep the center of the board as clear as possible. A cluttered center severely restricts your ability to move balls across the grid, leading to a quick game over.
Use the corners and edges to store balls you can't immediately use.
Always pay attention to the upcoming balls. If you see three red balls are coming, avoid blocking a potential red line you're building.
It's often better to make a less optimal move that keeps paths open than to create a small line that traps other, more valuable pieces.
You can play Magic Lines for free directly in your web browser. There are no downloads or installations required.
Because it's a lightweight HTML5 game, it runs on most devices and can be accessed on networks at school or work that might block other gaming sites.
The goal in Magic Lines is to score as many points as possible by clearing balls from the board. To do this, you must arrange five or more balls of the same color into a continuous line, which can be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal.
The game ends when the entire grid is full and no more moves are possible.
This game is played using only the mouse. First, left click on the ball you wish to move. Next, left click on an empty square where you want to place it. The ball will then travel to the new location.
A ball can only move to a destination square if there is a clear path of empty squares between its starting point and its destination. It cannot jump over other balls.
After every move that does not clear a line, three new balls will be added to the board in random spots.
Check the Preview - Always look at the three upcoming balls at the top of the screen to anticipate the next colors and plan your move accordingly. Keep the Center Clear - A clogged center restricts movement.
Try to move balls toward the edges and corners to keep your pathways open for longer. Longer is Better - While a 5-ball line clears space, aim for lines of 6 or 7. They score more points and remove more clutter in a single turn.
Avoid Traps - Don't move a ball to a location where it will be immediately boxed in. It's better to make a setup move than a move with no future.
Use Sacrificial Moves - Sometimes you have to place a ball in a less-than-ideal spot just to keep your primary building areas open for a more valuable line later.
