A round concludes when a player 'goes out' by getting rid of all the cards in their hand.
Understanding Melds and Canastas
The core of the game revolves around building melds. The most valuable melds are canastas, which are sets of seven or more cards of the same rank. A 'natural' or 'red' canasta contains no wild cards and is worth 500 bonus points.
A 'mixed' or 'black' canasta uses one to three wild cards and is worth 300 points.
To end a round, your team must have completed at least one canasta. This strategic requirement means you can't just empty your hand quickly; you need to build up at least one large meld first, adding a layer of depth to your decisions.
Scoring and Winning
Points are tallied at the end of each round. You earn points for the value of all the cards you've melded, plus bonuses for each canasta, for going out, and for any red threes you've played.
Red threes are special bonus cards that are worth 100 points each but must be played immediately upon being drawn. Any cards left in your hand are subtracted from your score, so managing your hand size is crucial.

Watch Your Discards - Pay attention to what your opponent is melding. Avoid discarding cards of a rank they are already collecting, as you'll be helping them build a canasta.
Manage Red Threes - If you draw a red three, it's automatically played for a 100-point bonus. However, if the round ends and you still have one in your hand, you lose 100 points, so be mindful.
Prioritize Canastas - Making a canasta is a requirement to go out and provides a large point bonus. Focus on building at least one canasta before you try to empty your hand.
Go Out Strategically - Don't rush to go out if your opponent has more points on the board than you. Sometimes it's better to prolong the round to build more canastas and increase your own score.
